Sprinkler Fitters Local 542 proudly represents 200 journeypersons, apprentices, and retirees, who are highly skilled in the fire protection industry. We are committed to providing our members with the best training available, which ensures our contractors the best qualified sprinkler fitters in all aspects of fire protection. Our members install, test, repair, maintain, inspect, and service all types of fire suppression systems in commercial, residential, and industrial sites.
We work not only in the city of Pittsburgh but the surrounding metropolitan area, roughly a 25 mile radius of the city. Our members work on projects of all sizes, no job is to large or to small. We have worked on the stadium projects for the Steelers- Pirates- and Penguins, we have worked on highrises, hospitals, and shopping malls, and last but not least we have worked on residential projects protecting family's. We take the installation of fire protection systems very serious and realize it is vital to everyday life. Sprinkler systems save lives and property.
Our Jurisdiction
Local union 542's territory is Twenty-Five miles from the City-County Building of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the crow flies, including the Townships of Washington (1), Allegheny, Buffalo, Penn, Forward, New Sewickley, Rochester)... Borough-Potter, Raccoon, Hanover (1), Hanover (2), Cross Creek, Canton, North Franklin, North Bethlehem, Somerset, Rostraver, South Hunington, Washington (2), Hempfield, and Long Branch, but excluding in its entirety are the Townships of Salem, Bell, Gilpin, South Buffalo, Jefferson (1), Winfield, Jackson, Marian, Daughtery, Brighton, Industry, Greene, Jefferson (2), Hopewell, Buffalo (2), Amwell, West Pike Run, East Pike Run, and Perry. These are in the hands of both parties, mutually agreed to maps which clearly set forth the territory.
